Okay, I got syslinux to work if I do the following:
- Make enough free memory. qemu-dm died with allocation failure and xend
  did not react on that. This is a serious problem, as it blocks
  SIGCHLD.
- Don't use file as backend for storage. lvm does not create any lookups.
The linux kernel within the domain locked up within the video output a
short time later. It uses the vga framebuffer.
