Re: [Xen-devel] [XEN PATCH for-4.13 v3] xen/arm: platform: fix Raspberry Pi compatible string

Hi,

Both upstream [1] and downstream [2] Linux kernels use "brcm,bcm2711"

platform compatible list.

The brcm,bcm2838 convention is abandoned. Remove it.

Rename the variables within the file to a rpi4_* prefix since the file
is meant to cover the Raspberry Pi 4 platform.

If you are using a device tree with the old compatible string
brcm,bcm2838, you will need to upgrade your device tree to one that has
the new brcm,bcm2711 compatible string.

@Juergen: RPI4 support has been added during Xen 4.13 development. This is still in development (i.e. it can't work out-of-box at least on the kernel side), but it would be good if we can enable support for more recent kernel. This would help to draw more users to Xen and also possibly reduce the number of hacks necessary in Linux/Device-Tree when using Xen on RPI4.

This patch only touches RPI4 specific code, so it will not affect the rest of the supported platform.

Cheers,
