You can always increase the log_level in libvirtd.conf (in /etc/libvirt/).
Could you also check your syslog?

Is this meaning that libvirtd was started just before you grep?
Does libvirtd keep restarting?
Have you tried `virsh -c xen: list`?

Also, have you tried running virsh as root?
