just to clearify: 

Many distros did not provide suitable kernels (means Xen enabled kernels) out 
of their boxes - and even less provide it with their by default installed 
kernels. 

In case of most (binary) Linux distros you usually have to choose/install a 
xen kernel explicitely or (as many here) just build your own one.
