Honestly, I don't know how it works. All I know is that if I have sdl=0,
vnc=0 and nographics=0, I get a nice VGA console. It took me a while to
get to that stage, so I didn't touch it too much one I got it working.

As far as I know, there's not going to be much you can find out from
/var/log/xen/* about what is really going on inside the VM. You may be
trying to boot something that isn't bootable and you may just be getting
stuck in the BIOS. You won't find any errors about that in the logs, but
it would account for 0 CPU time.

My suggestion is that you get the VGA console working, at least then you
won't be flying blind.
