Hi Simon,

   I can boot dom0 with this patch, so hopefully there's some info in it
that can shed some light on the problem.  I started with
ia64/xen-unstable.hg (16362:568816a7cb0a) & ia64/linux-2.6.18-xen.hg
(308:f539cd7c9331).  To that I applied your patch series from Oct. 28th,
replacing patch 5/7 with your new one from Nov. 11th (even though it's a
reply to the 2/7 patch).  That still fails as before (kexec-boot-bad.log
attached below).  Adding this debugging patch, I can boot
(kexec-boot-good.log).  I did notice that 'make tools' segfaults for me
with this patch set, but works fine on stock 16362/308.  I'm building on
a Debian Etch system w/ the default gcc-4.1.2 compiler.  My typical test
procedure is to build xen and xenlinuz on a separate build system, copy
those to a boot server, then netboot them via dhcp/tftp.  Here's the
binaries I'm booting (without the debugging patch):

   I'll see if I can get a system setup that you can access to
