The typo in Tristan's reply might be obvious, but just in case it confused you, that should be "linux-2.6.16-xen".
Have you changed any config files? It appears that maybe one
of the CONFIG_ACPI kernel options has been turned off?
I just changed this (as Tristan said):
Undef HAVE_SERIALIZE_DIRECTIVE in xen/include/asm-ia64/config.h
Also, could you run an "hg tip"
in your xen-ia64-unstable.hg directory and send the result?
