Ah, this would be a problem in any case.

Backend drivers need to run in privileged domains.  This basically means that 
they have access to a PCI device.  You could try the workaround Andy 
suggested a few days ago (grant access to a PCI device but don't compile the 
driver into the kernel so it leaves it alone).
