Could you, please , post
1.)  .config file for your pvops kernel
2.)  ls -l /dev/xen - output

PV Guests work usually pretty smoothly at Xen 4.0.1 Dom0 ( 2.6.32.27 pvops )

You should post the specific version of the pv_ops kernel that you are
trying and also the complete log of the guest boot process.

It is unclear if you are also having dom0 problems. To get more output
on Dom0 (if needed) you can use
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenSerialConsole
