Hello all,

I installed Xen on my Ubuntu 10.04 machine with Linux 2.6.32.25 kernel using this tutorial:
http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2010-08/msg00743.html

Whenever I tried to run 'sudo xm list', it gave me following message:
Error: Unable to connect to xend: No such file or directory. Is xend running?

I tried restarting xend with:
/etc/init.d/xend restart
/etc/init.d/networking restart
/usr/sbin/service xend restart

but it was of no use.

Then I used the forum discussions:
1. http://lists.xensource.com/archives/html/xen-users/2010-10/msg00618.html
Command list:
# cd /usr/src
# hg clone http://xenbits.xensource.com/xen-4.0-testing.hg
# cd xen-4.0-testing.hg
# make xen
# make tools
# make install-xen
# make install-tools PYTHON_PREFIX_ARG=
# reboot

2. http://xen.1045712.n5.nabble.com/Error-Unable-to-connect-to-xend-No-such-file-or-directory-Is-xend-running-td2607573.html
Command list:
# cd xen-4.0.0/build-linux-2.6-pvops_x86_64/source
# git revert 376d908f52427591cef4acd172db9c3ef28676ec
# git revert 9d85e25edbcb8a684db8470119077475ac4d90b5
# cd ..
# cd ..
# make kernels
# make install-kernels
# reboot

But, both of these didn't work either. I am really curious to know where I am going wrong or what can be done as of now to get xend running.

Please provide some insights. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Sid
