Re: [Xen-users] Re: How to upgrade to Xen 4.0.1 on Centos 5.5 ?
I would stop building on CentOS 5.5 . Any distro like Ubuntu 10.04.1 Server , F13,F12 would work for sure. Currently i am on top F14 ( rawhide) at Xen 4.0.1 ( .21 Michael Young kernel)
Boris.

Does someone have a step by step tutorial to upgrade Xen to 4.0.1
with the last kernel on CentOS 5.5 please ?
I followed this tutorial :
http://wiki.xen.org/xenwiki/Xen4.0?highlight=%28xen%29|%284.0%29
hg clone -r RELEASE-4.0.1 http://xenbits.xen.org/xen-4.0-testing.hg cd xen-4.0-testing.hg make xen make tools make stubdom make install-xen make install-tools make install-stubdom make world => to compile the new kernel
What do I do after this ? Excuse me
for my stupid question but it's the first time I compile a kernel.
I tried :
make install
mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32 2.6.32
But I have some errors about "No module xxx found for kernel
2.6.32.21, aborting."
I spent this step with : --builtin="ehci-hcd" --builtin="ohci-hcd"
--builtin="uhci-hcd" --builtin="sata_nv" --builtin="usb-storage"
After I modified my grub.con but my server doesn't boot...
Thanks a lot for your help !

Run :-
# man mkinitrd
there should be option like "--ignore-missing"

I noticed this error ;) !
Thanks.
But when I launch mkinitrd -f
/boot/initrd.img-2.6.32.21 2.6.32.21
I have this error :
No module ehci-hcd found for kernel 2.6.32.21,
aborting.

the xen-4.0.1.gz, the vmlinux-.2.6.32 but
not the initrd.img-2.6.32 ?
mkinitrd -f /boot/initrd.img-2.6.32 2.6.32
Boris.

Hello
Khris,
Thanks a lot for your proposal !
I tried to upgrade it last week without
success.
I follow this "howto" : http://wiki.xen.org/xenwiki/Xen4.0?highlight=%28xen%29|%284.0%29
I downloaded the source package.
cd xen-4.0 make xen make tools make stubdom make install-xen make install-tools make install-stubdom make world => To download and compile the new kernel 2.6.32.x
When it's over, in my /boot directory I
have the xen-4.0.1.gz, the
vmlinux-.2.6.32 but not the
initrd.img-2.6.32 ?
I never compiled a kernel myself...
Have a nice day ;)

It's not very hard to compile Xen for Centos 5.5, I did it last week using xen 4.0.1 and 2.6.32.21 pv_op dom0 kernel. Let me know if you need any help.
