How is this manifesting? Does the bladecentre just grumble at you, do you get garbage output or something else?

No, it just display the standard message that there is no vga output (blade may be offline or resolution in an unsupported mode). only after switching away from a xen-booted blade. if i don't switch away, vga is fine.

Are you using this in text mode? Does this problem occur if you run an X server? Have you changed things from the default VGA text resolution?

I didn't test X yet, but I booted xen and the dom0 with and without vga=normal and some other values. No changes..

As an interim measure, perhaps you could administer xen and dom0 over the serial console and avoid using VGA altogether?

Yes, thats what I will do now. I'm glad the BladeCenter offers virtual serial over LAN :)
