Thanks Luke

Unfortunately Dom) doesnt have iptables either.
I have three kernels:
2.6.16.29-xen
2.6.16.29-xen0
2.6.16.29-xenU

only 2.6.16.29-xen seems to have all the modules.
actually it seems to be a xen0 as I can run guest xenU inside of it.

these were all built from source code
the xen was installed by default
the only exception is I specified the kernels to build(xen0 and xenU) and did the menuconfig on xen0 and xenU.

the other two don't have the support.
I tried copying the modules from xen to both xen0 and xenU but get a mistmatch error between the kenerl name and the modules-string ie module mismatch IPTABLES is for version 2.6.16.29-xen ....Loded Kernel is 2.16.29-xen0 ....or something along these lines.

You need the modules in your domU environment; it only pulls the kernel from the Dom0. scp over /lib/modules/ from the dom0 to the DomU, then modprobe ip_tables
