[Xen-bugs] [Bug 1127] New: Using phys instead of phy to describe	VBD dev
| http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1127
           Summary: Using phys instead of phy to describe VBD device results
                    in misleading error message
           Product: Xen
           Version: 3.0.3
          Platform: x86-64
        OS/Version: Linux-2.6
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: P2
         Component: Tools
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: ben.lavender@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Creating a VM with this configuration:
name = "db1"
maxmem = 3072
memory = 1024
vcpus = 4
bootloader = "/usr/bin/pygrub"
on_poweroff = "destroy"
on_reboot = "restart"
on_crash = "restart"
vfb = [  ]
disk = [ "phys:/dev/VolGroup00/db1,xvda,w" ]
vif = [ '', 'bridge=xenbr0' ]
vif = [ '', 'bridge=xenbr1' ]
Results in this error:
Error: Device 51712 (vbd) could not be connected. Hotplug scripts not working.
After wasting some time on this error message, the problem is that this:
disk = [ "phys:/dev/VolGroup00/db1,xvda,w" ]
...needs to be this, with 'phys' instead 'phy':
disk = [ "phy:/dev/VolGroup00/db1,xvda,w" ]
My log files report nothing interesting. After fixing the problem, all is
well; the only problem is that the error message is not useful.
>From RHEL5 stock packages, Xen 3.0.3-41 Kernel 2.6.18-53.1.4.
