Would it be possible to call xen_vbd_free before the state change?

        case XenbusStateClosed:
                xen_blkif_disconnect(be->blkif);
                xen_vbd_free(&be->blkif->vbd);
                xenbus_switch_state(dev, XenbusStateClosed);
