In this case libvirt.git currently points to 3914f3153576 which predates the problematic commit (see all the bisect logs) b9bfe78424b8. That commit updates all the copyright years in gnulib which breaks applying the patches which libvirt carries locally (which is why it's important to use the declared version). I'll have to have a think about what change we need to make to osstest here...
