Thanks, I would try that as soon as possible (unfortunately this box
is in a remote datacenter)
Googling I found this
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=429937
They suggest to rebuild initrd including scsi_wait_scan module.
Another workaround could be to use rootdelay in the kernel command line
Worth a try or a waste of time?

Since I'm using blktap2 I'm concerned about upgrading to 3.0.x.  I
have read bad feedback about blktap-dkms.  Are my concerns unfounded?
 Are there any alternative to blktap2 (excluding LVM)?
