I might have done this, which patchset are you using?  I introduced support for 
the Summagraphics tablet under VNC in patchset 9259 and it used port 0.  With 
patchset 9967 I woke up and moved the tablet to port 1, freeing /dev/ttyS0 up 
for the console again.  If you're using a patchset between those two that's 
probably your problem.
