I am a newbie too, but I can answer of your some questions:

That is different. Xen use paravirtualizaion technique, so the kernel
must be tweaked a little bit. You cannot install distro in normal way.
Please read the Xen manual at homepage.

Also take a look at the papers at

understand about Xen's architecture.
