I expect the options that make oldconfig discarded were all for various hardware drivers -- in Xen 1.2, hardware drivers go in Xen, not xenolinux, so this is correct. That's very odd. Lots of people usedXen/Xenolinux under VMWare just fine. Does VMWare boot the XenDemoCD OK? Xen's hardware support is somewhat limited at present.
