HAve you built and installed the latest (unstable) Xen tools. v1.1
tools will not work!!

The xi_* tools need to be installed on your path so that xenctl picks
them up.

I've seen some strange errors from Xenolinux recently, probably
related to the new vbd system, but nothing like you've reported. I
suspect a tools mismatch.
