We only have 2 public IP addresses, I take it.

I think we should run the newcastle/gateshead sshds on a different
port.  24 is a good choice - I used it at home for quite a while.

Isn't gateshead's firewall going to be identical to newcastle's ?

We need a service IP address for the gateway on each vlan.  Whichever
of newcastle or gateshead is being the router should own that address.
