[Wg-test-framework] Notes from All-Net synch call today

We discussed the outstanding hardware-related issues:

Missing/late/troublesome test boxes:

* 4 previously-missing servers have been delivered and are being bench
  tested by All-Net.

  ACTION: Paul expects to have these racked and wired up by the end of
  the week.


* The remaining 4 missing servers are still awaited from Dell.  Paul
  guesses that they will arrive (at All-Net) some time next week.

  ACTION: If they haven't arrived, and we don't have a firm date, by
  Wednesday next week, Paul will escalate with the supplier.


* The two AMD servers whose MSI BIOS doesn't seem to be able to talk
  over the serial port in the setup screens.

  Ian reported that AMD say that this particular chip is usefully
  different from others in the farm and therefore it would be good to
  keep using it if possible, rather than swapping the motherboard/cpu
  for something else.  However, AMD haven't managed to resolve this
  issue.

  The impact of this problem is that:

    * It prevents us (the Xen Project) performing full acceptance
      testing on these boxes.  This will affect the project signoff,
      and may result in us signing off on the hardware deliver without
      properly testing these machines.

    * Unless and until the issue is resolved, these machines cannot be
      put into production in the test farm.

  ACTION: Lars is going to escalate this with AMD.

  ACTION: Paul is going to try to escalate this from his end, in
  parallel.

  We have no idea if or when this issue might be resolved.


Infrastructure:

* Paul reports that the PDUs are configured and fully wired up.


* ACTION: Paul will send a spreadsheet listing the PDU and switch port
  connections for each machine.  (By the end of the week.)


* We are short two serial connectors needed for serial concentrator
  wiring.

  ACTION: Paul expects to have this dealt with by the end of the week.


* We still do not know why gateshead's Comtrol multiport serial card
  is not working.  newcastle's is working fine.

  ACTION: Paul intents to try the hard disk swap (proposed early by
  Ian) today, which should isolate the problem to either hardware or
  software.

  Regardless of whether it's a hardware or software problem, Paul
  expects it to be fully resolved by the end of next week.

  ACTION: Paul to take the necessary steps.


* Paul reported that Chris (of All-Net) is still having some
  difficulty with the switch setup, routing, etc.  It appears that
  there may be some technical communications going awry.

  Ian suggested to Paul that Chris should talk to Ian on IRC.  Paul
  thought that would be feasible.

  ACTION: Paul to pass on to Chris.  Paul expects Chris to get in
  touch with Ian ASAP and definitely this week.
