I'm using the Zentyal, as a PVM domU.
First I install the Ubuntu 10.04 as a minimum virtual machine, after that I install the Zentyal and if all goes fine, I convert the domU from HVM do PVM.

I believe Smoothwall is a custom built Linux distro, not based off of any others.

And, as far as I know, it can't be run para-virtualized.  I would be very interested if someone found a way to make it so.

Is anyone here running Smoothwall Appliance as a VM in Xen? We're
running it right now, but it's running fully virtualized instead of
para-virtualized. Anyone know if it can run as a PV?

It crashed yesterday with only a 100 user sessions on it. Not much in
the log except:
[2010-12-06 15:03:31 7341] WARNING (image:559) domain prxy3: device model failure: pid 22922: malfunctioning (closed sentinel), killed; see /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-prxy3.log

Our management package restarted the VM but found this
in /var/log/xen/qemu-dm-prxy3.log (see memory error at bottom):

I'm not sure what flavor of linux it's running as I did not build the
VM. It's running 32bit kernel 2.6.16.60-6-smp.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
James
