Btw, renice works fine IF you are cpu-bound.
In case io is the limiting factor (which it 99.99% is, unless you are doing 
10,000 simultaneous dd's) will not help.

I don't want to slow down the pc, when generating a big file [~40 GByte].

Does ionice work properly?
