It's pretty simple when you realize dom0 is just a virtual machine (with some
extra privileges and duties).
- 32bit Xen hypervisor (xen.gz) can run 32bit guests.
- 64bit Xen hypervisor (xen.gz) can run both 32bit and 64bit guests.
so.. if you have 64bit Xen, then you can have 32bit dom0 kernel or 64bit dom0
kernel,
both are supported. Actually Citrix XenServer and XCP use 32bit dom0 kernel on
64bit Xen.
If you use the traditional xen then it's easiest to build and install matching
Xen and dom0.
The compatibility layer is Xen, not dom0. Was this clear enough? :)
