Dear Velten,

Below is the link to a Intel DP55KG motherboard review by motherboards.org. This link shows the BIOS screenshot of DP55KG.

http://www.motherboards.org/imageview.html?i=/images/reviews/motherboards/1948_p5_13.jpg

As you can see in the image, there is the line that says: Intel VT for Directed I/O (VT-d). But there's no option for you to enable or disable the feature.

I am wondering if you must enable Intel VT *first* before you can enable or disable VT-d.

To enable VT, you need to have a processor that supports VT. The P55 chipset definitely supports VT-d.

I don't think Intel put VT-d line in the BIOS for fun.

P55 chipset boards use the new Socket LGA1156. This socket supports both Core i5 and Core i7.

You should definitely get this instead of the older X58 chipset boards which use socket LGA1366. Socket LGA1366 only supports Core i7, not Core i5. X58 chipset supports VT-d too, as do Q35, Q45, X38, and X48 which are outdated.

Intel releases P55 after X58.

very interessting, but i want more than one pci classic slot

So i was looking for more informations, and find out that there a low-budget iCore System without Hypermode, Turbo Boost and VT-d, in most for iCore5

http://www.pctreiber.net/news/44-prozessoren/472-ueberblick-ueber-kommende-intel-cpus-
http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/Intel-Core-i3-i5-i7-Produktbezeichungen-und-Preise-durchgesickert-750777.html

So i'm not sure what i should do, an "old" Q45 with an OuadCore is nearly the same price than a iCore7 with P55 Board.

So i will try to find more informations about the DP55KG Extreme Board with vt-d, but with iCore7 it should be possible.

   Hi Velten,

VT-d support is not mentioned in the tech spec for the dp55kg so I
would not risk it unless some one here has tried it and knows it works.

Server equivalent like one of these would be a better choice (They
   specifically support VT-d):
