AFAIK you only need to configure 802.3ad on the switch if you use
802.3ad bonding mode (mode 4). Other modes (including the default
balance-rr) does not need it.

See README for bonding, which should be installed by default
(/usr/share/doc/iputils-20020927/README.bonding on RHEL5).
