I've just made a debian root filesystem using debootstrap, but
once I try to start the virtual machine, the boot process stops
just before the login prompt.

This is the boot log up to the block...

[ 10.069190] md: Waiting for all devices to be available before autodetect
[ 10.069195] md: If you don't use raid, use raid=noautodetect
[ 10.069393] md: Autodetecting RAID arrays.
[ 10.069398] md: Scanned 0 and added 0 devices.
[ 10.069401] md: autorun ...
[ 10.069403] md: ... autorun DONE.
[ 10.069866] kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
[ 10.069873] EXT3-fs: mounted filesystem with ordered data mode.
[ 10.069894] VFS: Mounted root (ext3 filesystem) readonly on device 3:1.
[ 10.069912] Freeing unused kernel memory: 304k freed
[ 10.070055] Write protecting the kernel read-only data: 6308k
[ 10.072410] khelper used greatest stack depth: 5336 bytes left
[ 10.090951] stty used greatest stack depth: 4088 bytes left
[ 10.263195] EXT3 FS on hda1, internal journal
[ 10.677791] rc used greatest stack depth: 3832 bytes left

I checked many files, like inittab, but no way to get the login prompt.

Any idea?
