What version of GPLPV?
0.9.12 pre-13. That was the latest as of about a week ago.
Possibly my problem has to do with my Dom0 kernel, which is the
git-tip/next Linux, again as of about a week ago, along with the release
3.4.0 Xen kernel.
When I do file a bug report, I'll attach my Linux kernel build .config
to the report.
The XP is an OEM SP3 CD - that is, Service Pack 3 was already applied to
the Windows installer, rather than applied by me after installation.
Without the GPLPV, XP works reliably but was unusably slow. I even
tried moving it to a physical partition, but that didn't affect the
performance any.
BeOS 5 Pro also works reliably as an HVM DomU, but is *profoundly* slow
- taking more than twenty minutes to boot, and menus taking a couple
minutes to open after clicking on them.
Ironically, BeOS is a remarkably efficient operating system; it was
always snappy and responsive when installed directly on my 150 MHz
PowerPC 604 Mac. (It supports both x86 and PowerPC.)
I had great hopes of hosting a whole bunch of different operating
systems under Xen to aid in my development of a cross-platform audio
application, but in its present state it's just not going to work for
me. At least for now, I've moved to VirtualBox - which has its problems
too, but at least the guests aren't so slow.
But I'm happy to do whatever I can to help get Xen to the point where it
*could* serve my needs.
