OK. But what about when you have the iso downloaded on a local disc?
surely this should be fine too?
absolute path to dir/file should work, no ?
   
 
 Absolute path to the directory which contains the isos wouldn't work for 
paravirtualized installation. You have to loop back mount the whole 
isos, copy the contents to a directory and share the directory using 
nfs/http/ftp and specify nfs/http/ftp url as the installation source.
