Hi, I'm trying to install OpenBSD as a DomU with HVM.
I've been looking through the mailing list archives, and I can't quite
tell if I'm trying to do something that might be a bad idea. Is there
any reason why I shouldn't be able to run OpenBSD on xen with HVM? I
thought HVM meant any OS should work, but some of the messages I've
read are making me worry. If I'm trying to do something impossible
i'd like to know so I can go do something else.
Does anyone know a good write up about an OpenBSD domU install? I
haven't found one yet.
Here's what I've done so far:
- I can see hvmloader come up in vnc
- from in vnc I can tell the OpeBSD boot loader use the serial port
- on the serial port I see the boot progress for a while before it
freezes up with the message "wd0c: aborted command reading fsbn 0
(wd0 bn 0; cn 0 tn 0 sn 0), retrying"
near as I can tell, that means it's not happy that hda isn't
partitioned yet or something like that. But, of course it's not
partitioned, I haven't installed anything yet. I'm booting off the
install iso, so why is it grumbling about the hard drive?
another theory is that it's actually successfully loading, but the
install ramdisk is failing to print to serial (or vnc)...
And, if you're still reading this you probably want to see the xm
config file. Below that is the full boot output from the serial port.
