Tom, 

first, would you care to change the subject of your messages to be related to 
content? Secondly questions like the subject do not belong in this list. 
Thirdly 
can we expect you to know tools like "strace" , "tcpdump", "ethereal" or "lsof" 
to 
see what your programs do or open?
