I don't think that is the problem as FB works fine with Suse in VMWare
and without being in a guest Xen session. In addition this is a Linux
error message, not a FB error message. I have also asked them these
same questions. So I am hoping between the two lists we can figure
this out so the next guy can use this knowledge.

What happens if you restart Firebird after it's completely booted?

Firebird in Classic mode starts on demand. So the first time someone
tries to attach to the server, the server starts.

You didn't really answer the question. My guess is that it works fine
because it binds after your preferred interface is up and configured.
Again, this isn't a Xen issue. It's not really a Firebird issue,
either. It's basic *nix administration.

Then again, maybe I'm wrong.

At least we somewhat agree on something.  I think it is a Linux issue too.  The only question I have is this a general issue or an issue because I am using Xen.  I don't know and won't until the problem is solved.

One of the FB programmers has given me some more stuff to tryout and I will do that when I get home in front of the server.
