Hopefully not! Don't do this just because some people think they have
to beat at you because you offered a _possible_ solution to a problem
that is not yet clearly defined enough to tell which of all the ideas
in this thread could help.

As always nobody should forget, that you can't judge the quality of
the proposed solutions without knowing the real problem and the
environment in which the solution should do it's job.

In some situations a full blown snmp monitoring might be adequate, in
some others xmlpulse, nagios, or something completely different is
needed - and all those that are right in one situation, are wrong in a
lot of other situations...
