USB add-in cards, at least, have been reported successfully assigned to domUs 
using PCI passthrough.

The USB back / front driver went out of date because it couldn't work once the 
2.4 kernel support was broken.  Expect a new 2.6-compatible driver to appear 
at some point in the future, but workarounds will be necessary for the 
meantime.

I think the HVM guests can have access to virtual USB - and possibly real - 
devices, via QEmu's support for that, though...
