That really is a non-issue. You could just comment out the respawn 2-6
lines in /etc/inittab and stop the warnings. The problem shows up on
my gentoo box and somebody suggested it was a bash 3.1.X issue.

Looks like getty is spinning.  Perhaps the /dev/tty* devices are missing?
