Bingo. Tried to switch to another MAC. Did a continous ping from another
Linux box (not on the Xen server but on the same subnet):
vif = ['mac=00:50:56:00:00:0A'] => 1900 packets without loss
vif = ['mac=00:50:56:00:00:01'] => 796 packets trmd, 716 packets rcvd,
10% packet loss
So in the first case I can ping for half an hour with perfect
reliability. In the second case I have noticeable packet loss after only
10 minutes.
I think it is safe to conclude that Xen is off the hook and that I'll
have to find the cause of my trouble elsewhere in our network.
