Are you sure that the patch applied without rejects?

Did you re-run the entire autoconf/automake infrastructure? Since files
have been added this will be necessary. (try "./autogen.sh
&& ./configure ...").

If that doesn't help then try applying the patch to r11231 which is the
version I generated the patch on (it's a bit old now).
