Hangs when bringing up the disc controller (whether SCSI or IDE) with
command timeouts and the like which generally point to broken interrupts.
When I said it didn't work on a 'wide range' of systems, we didn't actually
find a single system it *did* work on! We must have tested on at least four
separate systems with 100% failure on those. I reckon you should be able to
repro it yourself pretty easily.
