I have further blktap woes. I recompiled xen-unstable with blktap on major number 244 (arbitrary choice) to avoid major number clash on 254.

However, subsequently:

[root@dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa ~]# blktapctrl

Debug output from /var/log/messages (syslog):

Sep 21 15:34:46 dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa BLKTAPCTRL: blktapctrl: v1.0.0
Sep 21 15:34:46 dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa BLKTAPCTRL: Found driver: [raw image (aio)] Sep 21 15:34:46 dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa BLKTAPCTRL: Found driver: [raw image (sync)] Sep 21 15:34:46 dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa BLKTAPCTRL: Found driver: [vmware image (vmdk)] Sep 21 15:34:46 dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa BLKTAPCTRL: Found driver: [ramdisk image (ram)] Sep 21 15:34:46 dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa BLKTAPCTRL: Found driver: [qcow disk (qcow)] Sep 21 15:34:46 dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa BLKTAPCTRL: /dev/xen/blktap0 device already exists

So far so good(?). There is a running blktapctrl process, no longer pinned at 100%. So, I try to create a tap:aio device:

[root@dom0-0-50-45-5d-59-aa ~]# xm block-attach 0 tap:aio:/tmp/sparse.img /dev/xvda1 w 0

At this stage all hell breaks loose, culminating in a hypervisor panic. Here's the log:
