Ahh - OK. It was just by chance that it failed the two times I used 0.7 and didn't fail when I used 0.6b.

Nothing. Cloning a repo from scratch sends exactly the same command to the
server in all versions ("send all changesets starting at the history root").

I think you've just got more load on xenbits.
