The one i'm having a problem with is VMware using xeno-unstable.  I
haven't yet gotten 1.1 to boot.

Matt's problem is confirmed. I've seen exactly the same root
partition problem in xeno-unstable.bk; this problem does't
exist in xeno-1.1.bk (NOT on VMWare).
