[Xen-bugs] [Bug 1535] panic: iret exception
http://bugzilla.xensource.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=1535
------- Comment #8 from micah@xxxxxxxxxx 2010-04-01 12:49 -------
Well, I tried my darndest, but I couldn't get the pvops to work right. I did
end up finding a workaround to this problem, which probably illustrates where
the issue is. This is in the Debian stable kernel, and the kernel folks there
do not know what to do about it. My guess is that this has been fixed in newer
versions of Xen, but since Debian is stuck with the stable kernel for a few
years, it would be good if someone who understood what the issue here was were
to stop over to http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=504805 and
offer up a patch!
Eventually I stumbled on a way to keep my machines from restarting, its not a
great solution, but it stops me from having to deal with the failure on a
daily basis. I think that anyone else who is having this problem can do this
and it will work. Obviously this is not the right solution, but it works
until we can get a fix. Essentially what I did was to pin the CPUs so that they
didn't travel around (using xm vcpu-pin). The full details, with examples are
in the above cited URL.
