           Summary: Network driver performance
           Product: Xen
           Version: unstable
          Platform: Other
        OS/Version: Windows
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: winpv
        AssignedTo: xen-bugs@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
        ReportedBy: andy.grover@xxxxxxxxxx

With vcpus=1, I think TX performance is
good and repeatable, but when testing RX, dom0 reports a high number of
dropped packets - the Indicate routine takes a while during which time
the ring fills up again and overflows. With vcpus=2 I get wildly varying
performance measurements for both TX and RX. At gigabit speeds, a 256
slot ring probably isn't big enough. We may need to get the packets off
the ring and put them on a list and then indicate them later. This would
improve things on an SMP system. Also, I never see more than one packet
being given to us in SendPackets...
