I can reproduce it with a 2.6.18 kernel, but not with kernels starting from
2.6.20 (I haven't tested 2.6.19). This looks to me like a linux kernel i8042
bug which got fixed since then.

Note: the difference between sdl and vnc is about the qemu main loop
scheduling, which may induced different i8042 behaviors, which 2.6.18 linux
kernels weren't able to cope with.
