Gunter is right, you need to disable xencons (or set it to a tty). If xencons
is configured to grab ttyS0 it makes sure that the conventional serial driver
cannot be loaded by grabbing the resources associated with it - hence the
errors you guys have been seeing. Changing the setting so that xencons doesn't
grab ttyS0 should fix this.
Note that you might want to configure Xen not to use / grab the serial port if
you want to give it to dom0 Linux. I believe it may be possible to give one
serial port to each, if more than one is available. I guess you might get away
with sharing a serial port between Xen and Linux by setting them to use the
same speed etc, but... I don't know if this is a good idea and I don't know if
it'd work.
Since this is part of the "normal" behaviour of the xencons driver, I'm leaving
this bug as WONTFIX. Hope that's OK with everybody; if these suggestions don't
solve your problem, feel free to reopen the bug. This should probably be
better documented somewhere for benefit of future users.
