We boot SMP dom0's using the -xen kernel all the time, no problem (though 
having 
an SMP dom0 typically doesn't make sense from a performance point of view -- 
its 
better to atleast set the active number of CPUs to 1).

If you're seeing bugs with an SMP dom0 that's pretty odd, and makes me suspect 
your kernel config.
