I don't use one of the existing mirrors, I copy the install sources to my own,
on-site web server so that the installs happen at LAN speeds. I have a 4.5Mb/s
connection, but that's still too slow to do an install, especially given how
frequently I do the installs.

Thank you for advice. With DSL 30KB/sec it's not an option
for me.

I use an http-based repository for the CentOS 5 install sources, which
seems to work fine. I've never tried nfs: for the protocol in virt-install,
but http:// seems to work fine for me.

I was unable to find virt-install. As i was told at opensuse
forum (view link 1) this
utility is called vm-install and really looks like virt-install . I was able to
install
OpenSuse 11 PV ,OpenSuse 10.3 PV DomUs utilizing as source NFS share
built up with mounting loop of corresponding ISO image ( exactly as for
virt-install
on RH systems). However , if i mount loop CentOS 5.1 (or F8) ISO image
on /mnt/tmp and export this folder via NFS, submitting
"nfs://IP-ADDRESS-Dom0:/mnt/tmp" for Network URL causes vm-install to exit
immediately
with error message. View for details ongoing discussions:-

OpenSuSE 11 should also include virt-manager and virt-inst,
which should guide you through the steps of setting up a CentOS5 PV domU and
just about any other O/S you want to set up. I use virt-manager on SLES10 all
the time, mostly for CentOS5 or SuSE 10.3 PV domUs.
