So you are using a high level management tool for vm operations
(presumably virt-manager), right?
Xen has its own command line utility called 'xm'.
  #xm create domain-config-file
is usually used to create a domain. An example of hvm domain config file
is placed in /etc/xen/xmexample.hvm or somewhere depending on your
distro, so please have a look.
